You Did It, Congratulations!!!

Finally, It’s Retirement Time

Your retirement is your time; it’s your time to bust out.   You have worked hard to get to this point in your life.  You have waited your entire working career for this time.  You can do whatever you want to.   There should be absolutely nothing holding you back from doing the things you never had the chance to do during your working years.

Your career, family obligations and financial responsibilities dictated your decisions during your working years; now that you are retired, you get to make the decisions.

That Was Then|Ho-Hum

Your retirement will not be your parents or grandparents retirement.

Their retirement consisted of enjoying a few years after working more than 40 years.   Retirement was brief for prior generations.   They did not retire as young nor did they live as long as today’s retirees.

This Is Now|Get Energized

Your retirement years could last 30+ years; that’s over half of your life.

The worst thing you could do is slow down or sit back.   You have a new chapter of your life that’s just about to begin and you get to plan it.   You will need lots of energy for your new life; do that by staying healthy, active and connected.

Maximize Your Next Chapter|Don’t Get Old

You do not have to lose your health and vitality just because you have reached retirement age.   Your age is just a number.

What are you going to do with plenty of time during retirement?

Stay Healthy

To get the maximum amount of enjoyment out of your retirement years you must take care of your health.   If you were a bit relaxed about your health habits during your working years, you may want to change that.

As you know, there are no magic formulas or secret potions for staying healthy.  The same old rules apply, eat right to maintain proper weight and exercise to stay fit.

Exercises Other Than Shuffle Board

You do not have to run marathons to stay fit.

  • Walking, a simple daily walk around your neighborhood will keep you healthy.
  • Golfing is a form or exercise.
  • Hire a personal trainer.
  • Take a spin class.
  • Join a health club.
  • Join a bicycling club.
  • Retirement communities and health clubs offer aerobic, stretch and balances classes.

Stay Active|Don’t Check Out

Join, join, join

  • Retirement is your time to socialize without time constraints.
  • Get involved, make new friends.
  • Join a church group.
  • Find a charity or volunteer group you can join.
  • If single, join a singles club.

Stay Connected|You Owe It To Yourself

Staying in touch with your family and friends is one of the best ways to still feel like you are a part of something bigger than yourself.   It is very hard to not stay connected now-a-days with cell phones, iPhones and text messaging.   Explore your options, many retirees relocate to be closer to relatives, others travel.   It’s your retirement, they are your options.

You deserve your retirement.   You worked hard your entire life so that one day you could enjoy the fruits of your labor, so to speak.   That time is now.   Live, love and laugh, you’ve earned it.
