Your Retirement Is All Up To You
Nowadays you can hire someone to do almost anything for you; cut your grass, clean your house and even deliver your groceries. But there are 3 things that no one can do for you…diet, exercise and save for your retirement.
Oh sure, to help you diet you can join a diet group but you still have to do the work of watching what you eat. To help you exercise you can join a gym, buy a treadmill or hire a personal trainer. These professionals can put you through intense workouts and get you toned in places you never knew could be toned but you still have to do the actual workouts, no one will do your exercises for you.
The same logic holds true for retirement planning; you are in charge of your retirement savings plan. Your employer can offer a 401k plan with a match and great investment choices but you need to take the first step and sign up for the program. You need to make it happen, no one will do it for you.
No One Cares Like You Do
No one cares about your retirement as much as you do; so if you aren’t saving and planning for it how will you have enough money put aside to retire someday? You won’t. Think about that. Do you want to work forever? Probably not. So what are you doing about it?
Ask Yourself The Hard Questions
Be completely honest with yourself. Are you willing to cut back on a few expenses now in order to save money and send it ahead to your retirement? The only money that will be there when you retire is the money you send ahead. You may think you can work during your retirement years to make up for the any lack of retirement money but your plans may not materialize like you want them to. What if you become ill when you retire and cannot work; what if cannot get a job because businesses aren’t hiring? Get the picture? Save for retirement during your working years so as to avoid unnecessary financial grief when you are in your retirement years.
